Hey love

I’ve been listening to a couple of podcast episodes recently that have absolutely cracked me open

One was from Modern Wisdom by Chris Williamson
The other — Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett

Two interviews. Two icons. One theme

John Bellion
Matthew McConaughey
Two people at the top of their game
Living the dream
Doing the thing
And both of them walked away

Not because they couldn’t handle it
Not because they failed
But because they knew something didn’t feel right

For Matthew McConaughey
It was being stuck in the “romcom guy” box
He wanted more soul
More depth
More stretch

And when he got offered a romcom for $8 million
He said no

Then they offered $10 million
Still no

Eventually the offer reached $14.2 million
And he still turned it down

Because sometimes the cost of saying yes is your integrity
And that price?
Too high

For John Bellion
It was his record deal
He was pouring out magic
Crafting the best work of his life
And getting paid almost nothing for it

So he stopped
For seven years

He refused to release music
Refused to play the industry game
Until the label finally caved
and he got to write a new story — on his terms

He then launched a stadium tour with no label help
and made more money in two days
than he had from six months of touring before

Let that land

These aren’t stories of success
They’re stories of alignment
Of self-trust
Of refusing to sell your soul for the perception of success

Because you can be at the top
And still feel empty
Still feel off
Still feel like something isn’t right

So here’s the deeper truth

If they can turn their back on what everyone else would kill for — so can you

You don’t have to keep performing the life that no longer fits
You don’t have to keep climbing a mountain that was never yours to scale

And if you’re in a season of questioning
If you’re in a chapter that looks shiny but feels heavy
This is your reminder:

You’re allowed to walk away from what you once wanted
in order to claim what you actually need

Because freedom isn’t always found in more
Sometimes it’s found in less

And success?
It’s not the goal
Alignment is

So let me leave you with this

What’s something you’ve outgrown — but are still holding onto because it looks like success?

That answer might change everything

With love
