- The story I was telling myself...
The story I was telling myself...
What's yours?
You ever catch yourself in a moment thinking
Wait, is this actually happening… or is this just the story I’ve decided to believe?
Because fck.
There’s always two versions.
The truth.
And the version your heart wishes was true.
Sometimes we don’t miss red flags we repaint them.
We convince ourselves they’re passion.
Or miscommunication.
Or “just a phase.”
We override our nervous systems because we want to believe they meant it this time.
We ignore our gut because “maybe it’s just me.”
We hold on because letting go would make it real.
But here’s the thing:
The story you’re telling yourself…
isn’t always the story being lived.
Brené Brown calls it, “The story I’m telling myself is…” — a phrase I come back to again and again when I feel myself spiralling, projecting, or rewriting reality to make it safer.
Because sometimes, your heart is writing love letters in a language their actions don’t speak.
Sometimes, your soul is narrating a future that their energy’s never actually offered.
And sometimes, you're not in love with the person… you're in love with the potential you made up.
This is where an action audit becomes medicine.
Strip the words.
Mute the noise.
Step back and ask:
👉 What are they actually doing?
👉 How does it feel in my body when I’m around them?
👉 Am I witnessing patterns… or illusions I want to believe in?
And this isn’t just about romantic love.
This is business.
Friendship.
Family.
Self.
Where are you believing in versions of people that don’t exist anymore or never did?
Where are you fabricating stories just to keep the comfort?
Where are you choosing fantasy over facts because the truth would require you to move?
Listen I get it.
I’ve been the woman who saw the best in everyone.
The woman who stayed because of what could be.
The woman who ignored how they made me feel… just to keep the picture intact.
But choosing reality is the most radical act of self-love.
Because when you stop telling stories that keep you stuck
You start living a life that sets you free. 💫
This is your reminder to ask yourself:
✨ What story am I telling myself — and is it true?
✨ What is their energy showing me — beyond what I want to see?
✨ What would shift if I started believing actions, not promises?
This isn’t about hardening.
It’s about honouring.
Choosing clarity over fantasy.
Self-trust over storyline.
Reality over rewrite.
Because your nervous system knows.
Are you listening?
