The Event Was Yesterday
Yes, really
I went to New York to fill my cup.
Soul Cycle. Incredible dinners. Spontaneous chats with a good friend, Alex.
But there was one thing I’d been looking forward to the most...
Seeing John Bullen - an artist whose work speaks to my bones.
I had the ticket. The excitement. The outfit.
I got to the venue. Handed them my pass.
And they looked at me like… “Are you on the guest list?”
I was like... “No, I just bought a ticket.”
And then they said it.
“The event was yesterday.”
(You can’t make this sh*t up.)
I could’ve spiralled.
I could’ve made it mean something about me.
That I’m careless. Chaotic. Disorganised.
That I missed a moment that was meant for me.
But instead…
I hopped back on a bike. Rode through Manhattan.
Let the city hold me while the sun slipped behind buildings.
And I caught one of the most breathtaking sunsets I’ve ever seen.
Sometimes…
The thing we think we came for isn’t the thing we’re meant to receive.
This wasn’t about John.
It was about joy.
Presence.
Permission.
The reminder that even when it doesn’t go to plan…
It still gets to be f*cking beautiful.
OFH in real time.
What would shift if you let things go "wrong"... and still believed it was working?
