The Ache of Outgrowing Yourself.
Growth doesn’t always feel like power — sometimes it feels like loss.
Sometimes I miss her...
Not the healed version.
Not the embodied, emotionally intelligent, boundary-having version.
The before version.
The one who said yes too often.
Who bent herself into shapes just to be loved.
Who didn’t know what self-trust even felt like.
I miss her sometimes.
Not because she was free
But because she was familiar.
And when you’re in the middle of the spiral
not quite who you used to be,
not yet who you’re becoming
there’s a grief no one warns you about.
Grief for the girl who kept the peace.
Grief for the love you accepted, even when it hurt.
Grief for the mask you wore so well you forgot it was a mask.
Healing doesn’t just ask you to let go.
It asks you to mourn.
Because even the parts of you that betrayed your truth…
were trying to keep you safe.
This isn’t about glamorising the glow-up.
It’s about honouring the heartbreak of becoming.
OFH doesn’t promise perfection.
It promises presence.
Even in the ache.
So if you’re deep in the spiral right now
if your edges are fraying and your heart feels heavy…
Let yourself miss her.
Lay flowers at her feet.
Let yourself remember her.
Then thank her for getting you here.
She didn’t fail.
She just outgrew the story.
Breathe.
You’re not broken.
You’re blooming.
Love,
M x
