Control Isn’t Safety. It’s Self-Abandonment in Disguise.
You’re not calm. You’re suppressing. And it’s costing you your joy.
We don’t even realise we’re doing it.
Holding the tears in.
Smoothing over the truth.
Staying composed so no one gets uncomfortable.
Not sharing how we truly feel because it will ruin the moment.
We call it being “in control.”
But let’s be honest…
It’s not control. It’s containment.
And it’s killing your aliveness.
You weren’t born like this.
You learned to prioritise being palatable over being present.
You learned that emotion was messy. Inconvenient. Unprofessional. Unsafe.
So now you call it "calm."
But it’s not calm.
It’s disconnection.
✨
Pseudo control might make you feel powerful in the moment
But it’s robbing you of your full expression.
Because here’s the truth:
You’re not meant to be manageable.
You’re meant to be free.
The rage, the ache, the softness, the tears they’re not weaknesses.
They’re your f*cking wisdom.
And the more you grip, the more life slips through your hands
✨
OFH Prompt:
Where are you calling it “control”…
but it’s really just fear of being fully seen?
You don’t need to be less emotional to be taken seriously.
You don’t need to be less anything.
You need to stop betraying your inner wisdom for the illusion of safety.
You’re done abandoning yourself for pseudo control.
Let it go.
Let it out.
Let it move.
